Being a Vegetarian: what does it imply?

Health & Motivation

The most striking fact that surprised me about being a vegetarian is that not all vegetarians are slim. There are fat vegetarians out there. This is due to the fact that there are many types of vegetarians: semi-vegetarians (they eat fish and seafood), lacto-vegetarians, lacto-ovo-vegetarians and only vegetable vegetarians. It all depends on the preferences of every person and what their doctor recommends them.

A true vegetarian doesn’t eat meat at all, no fish and no chicken. A lacto-ovo-vegetarian eats dairies and eggs but doesn’t eat any kind of meat. A lacto vegetarian will won’t eat eggs but will eat dairies.

I believe that anybody that wants to become a vegetarian or is a vegetarian should stay in constant contact with their doctor or with a good professional nutritionist. Our bodies are designed to assimilate from all the kind of nutrients, vitamins and minerals in equal quantities. By eliminating animal proteins form your diet many health issues might rear their ugly head. That is why you have to take medical tests form time to time to avoid unleashing epic unhealthy imbalances in your body. When having a vegetarian nutrition it is really easy to overeat too many of one kind nutrients and not eat other nutrients.

A vegetarian diet has different results from person to person. The effects f being a vegetarian aren’t the same all the time for all the people. Some vegetarians avoid eating very healthy foods like honey. I believe that being a semi-vegetarian is the best way to go if you want to experience the benefits of a healthier eating lifestyle.

There is also the microbiotic diet which is the most restrictive one. You aren’t allowed to eat any animal foods, processed foods, foods that contain additives or caffeine. This type of diet is a good one for detoxing your body in a couple of days.

If you go all vegetarian the positive healthy effect will show up fast and will last for a period of time. But with time nutritional deficiencies start appearing, mainly because of the lack of proteins and calcium form your body. Proteins and calcium are extremely important in the growth of the human body and teenagers should give their body all the quantities it needs to be able to develop itself. From a medical standpoint a lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet is recommended, and if you eat fish and chicken meat from time to time it is even healthier.

Food supplements are a good way to improve any vegetarian diet and ensure your body has all the nutrients it needs. People that are full-fledged vegetarians usually have a lack of the following nutrients from their body: iron, calcium, proteins, vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and zinc. Eating food supplements or eating dairies and eggs help reduce the chance of that ever happening.

Eating more fruits and vegetables is always healthy but in my opinion you shouldn’t go overboard. Eat vegetables at least two times per day in your meals and you can have a healthy snack eating fruits. Tasty and good.
