Cabbage is a vegetable that helps your digestion, increases your antibodies. Cabbage can speeds up the curing of ulcer. Cabbage reduces the risk of eye cataract, colon, stomach and lung cancer, and also reduces the risk of heart problems.

You can eat cabbage raw, in a salad, or cooked in different styles. Cabbage gives you lots of vitamin C, and also vitamin E, A, B, minerals and fibers. Cabbage is really good for people suffering of anemia. If you cook it of course cabbage will lose some of its nutritional value, losing a good part of its vitamins. If you eat it raw you will get lots of vitamin C and vitamin E.

Just half a pound of cabbage will give you all the daily necessary of vitamin E and vitamin A. Because cabbage contains magnesium, calcium, iron and sulfur you might get bloated and pass wind after eating cabbage. This effect is especially powerful if you combine cabbage with meat. Just remember cabbage + meat is a bad choice. Especially if you go out to have fun in the company of others later. Adding some caraway will reduce the gassy effects.

The antioxidant and nutritional value of this vegetable cannot be overlooked. It is recommended to eat at least 2 servings of cabbage every week. But you don’t have to go overboard and eat cabbage daily. Eating too much cabbage will actually prevent your body assimilate iodine which is a bad thing.

For a medium sized cabbage you can make 4 servings of cabbage. At each 100 grams of cabbage you eat your body gets 25 calories, 50mg of vitamin C, 385mg of beta carotene, 75mg of folic acid, 52mg of calcium, 270mg of potassium…

Red cabbage had been proven to have even a bigger nutritional value than the regular cabbage. Red cabbage has more antioxidants and a big quantity of vitamin C ( 5 times more vitamin C than green cabbage). The components of red cabbage reduce the risk of breast cancer because of their effect on estrogen.

If cabbage is good form the inside you might be surprised to find out that cabbage is healthy on the outside too. Cabbage helps the scaring process and disinfection of wounds. It is good if you have inflammations, burns, bug stings, infections, sprains, muscle aches, headaches… Just grate some cabbage and put it on the problem spot to cure or alleviate the problem.
