The short and to the point answer is no. But why you may ask? Well I am willing to bet that you are probably eating less often than it is recommended for achieving healthy weight loss. Isn’t that a mind boggler?

The truth is that you have to eat more often, about 5-6 times per day if you want to lose weight. The secret is to eat less food at each meal. That way you avoid binging during your meals. Most people make the mistake of eating only one big meal each day, usually at night when they get home. When you stuff yourself with lots of food your insulin level skyrockets. And a high insulin level is what tells your body it should store part of the food it received as fat.

Also each time you eat something your body needs to consume energy during the digestive process, increasing your metabolism. If you eat several times a day, you keep your metabolism at a higher level all day long, forcing your body to burn more calories. Not a whole lot more, but still enough to make a difference.

The idea is to eat one light meal every 4 hours. You have no reason to stuff yourself when you know a new meal is just around the corner. This way in fact you will eat less food during the day. Just make sure you don’t overeat a teach meal.

At first it can be hard getting used to eating all those meals and making sure you don’t overeat at each one. Your old habits will try to kick in. Fight them. Tell your body that it doesn’t require a lot of food because soon it will receive new nourishment. This will make your body stop clinching its fat reserves and start burning them. The result you wanted all along. Who thought you could achieve it by eating more meals a day. But it works like a charm.
