If you want to lose 30 pounds you will have to put your butt to work. You cannot indulge in a couch potato lifestyle and expect to lose 30 pounds in 3 months. You have to get healthier eating habits and to start exercising. You have to work out, there is no way around it.
Losing 10 pounds every month is an achievable goal that is also very healthy. 10 pounds per month is a healthy weight loss progress. I know there are hundreds of quick weight loss diets and miracle pills that promise you will lose 30 pounds in 30 days and sometimes they promise you will lose even more fat faster. I’ not saying they don’t work because some do (on rare occasions most work) but what they don’t tell you is that they won’t help you maintain your new look.
You you have to choose which way you want to go. Do you want to lose weight fast, destroy your metabolism in the process and get even fatter later? Or do you want to lose weight at a slower pace, increase your metabolic rate, get healthier eating habits and keep your stunning looks forever. The choice is yours. I am going to teach you in this article the basics you need to know if you want to even stand a chance to lose 30 pounds.
You have to eat at least 3 meals per day, each at fixed time intervals. You have to create for yourself a meal schedule and do whatever it takes to respect it. In our hectic modern life we usually eat on the run which probably is why we are getting fatter and fatter. Also after each meal you should take a 10 minutes siesta to let the food settle down and the digestive process start. You should also eat 2 small healthy snacks between those meals.
Never ever starve yourself. The purpose of all the above mentioned meals is that of keeping hunger away all day long. Many people do the mistake of not eating anything all day long and at night they binge like mad. One meal per day is a super unhealthy eating habit. Eating just one meal per day slows down your metabolism and your body will to whatever it takes to store fat because it believes there is a hunger in the world. Giving your body food frequently it will start burning all those excess calories because it know there will be plenty more in the near future.
You should eat 4-5 times per day but you shouldn’t eat a lot of food. You have to eat enough food to make the hunger go away without feeling stuffed. It is a delicate balance that you might not hit at first but in time you will be able to do it effortlessly. A good habit you should acquire is that of always leaving some food in your plate.
Eat smaller servings of healthier foods that nourish your body and don’t fatten it up. I bet you can cut in half the size of your meals and you won’ t feel hungry all day long. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Cook your own meals and avoid eating in restaurants or fast food places. You should also limit the intake of highly processed foods like cold cuts, pastries… basically anything that comes wrapped in a plastic package should not be eaten if you want to lose 30 pounds or more. The less processed the foods you eat are the more healthy and nonfattening they are.
When eating chew your food well and don’t watch television or surf the web. When your eat your whole attention should be dedicated to the act and process of eating. If your mind gets distracted you won’t notice when you had your fill and you don’t need any more food. By chewing your food slowly and putting your fork and knife down between bites you will eat fat less food at each meal because you will notice faster when you are full.
A super simple but super efficient weight loss trick is that of drinking one glass of water when you feel hungry. Frequently our bodies mistake thirst for hunger. So when in fact all your body needed was a glass of water you gave him food. Since your body didn’t request more calories it is forced to store those excess calories. Guess what your body will do with them. You guessed it, it will turn those excess calories into fat. I know people that lost a lot of pounds just by doing this little but powerful weight loss trick. Also remember to hydrate yourself by drinking at least 8-10 cups of water daily.
You have to start working out starting today. Set it as a goal to get more physically active daily. If you want to get a smoking hot body you have to work out. Who wants to have a skinny flabby body?! Yuck! You have to tone your muscles and sculpt your body.
Increasing your muscle mass should be your top priority, regardless if you are a woman or a man. Muscle help you burn more calories each and every day because they need more energy to function. Your body fat doesn’t require almost any energy so it doesn’t help you burn more calories. If you get more muscles it is almost impossible to stay fat because they will increase your metabolic rate. You will burn more fat even when you aren’t doing anything. You should think about increasing your muscle mass as investing in a high yield assed over time. Your muscles will help you maintain your new stunning body with a minimal effort.
Find out new creative ways to include more and more physical exercises in your daily activities. Park your car further and walk. If you can, ditch your car for good the better. Walk up the stairs and go to your colleagues in person if you want to tell them something. Get a gym membership and go there for 3 times each week and workout for at least 1 hour. Go jogging 2 times a week for at least 45 minutes.
If you really want to lose weight super fast you should do first anaerobic exercises and then do aerobic exercises. This workout sequence maximizes the weight loss results that you get form your workout. You will burn more fat and build more muscles at the same time. A super combo that will melt the fat away super fast.
It might sound old fashioned but all you really need to do to lose 30 pounds in 3 months is eat healthy food and exercise more. This weight loss formula always never fails and it is also super healthy. The best part of this weight loss formula is that you get new healthy eating habits and you change your lifestyle, making it healthier. This way you will enjoy your new slender smoking hot body for longer and you won’t have to work that hard to keep it.
What healthy weight loss tips do you know that will help the other readers lose 30 pounds in 3 months? I am super curious. Please share them in the comments below.

My biggest problem is snacking. I’ve tried having “healthy snacks” but it’s hard to resist the pastries and chocolate. It has been ruining my weight loss efforts.
May 4, 2010 at 10:02 am
You should give EFT a try. A recent study showed that EFT con help you diminish the effect of your cravings or even eliminate them for up to 6 months. Pretty cool if you ask me.

I am 34 and just got back in the gym after about 4 years. it really tough but i am determined to lose the 30 lbs I put on. You site was motivating and helpful, just confirming alot of what I already know and then some..I was really surprised about the anaerobic excercise first! I have always done my 2.5 run first, then onto weights. I am going to switch it up for sure. Every little bit helps. Thanks!
5.3′ 140 – And looking forward to posting my success and thanking you for the advice come July at my 120 mark!
May 19, 2010 at 6:21 am
I just read this yesterday, I’m about 140 pounds almost 50 and I’m 5 feet tall so I am DEFINITELY trying this. I am trying to get down to 110-120 before the next school year starts. Just one question, what do you suggest as a snack? Is Oatmeal to Go acceptable? Because I REALLY like it, even the ones with raisins (ew, raisins). I will be sure to tell you if this works for me. Very encouraging, I KNOW I can do this!
May 19, 2010 at 8:32 pm
hi! im 20 years old 5’6 and 181 pounds 2 and 1/2 yrs ago i was 134 i would really like to be back to that weight i gained the weight through my pregnancy. i really found this article helpful im gonn start working on it today!
May 19, 2010 at 8:59 pm
As long as you eat only one bar of Oatmeal to Go you should be fine. One bar contains 220 calories. Whole grain cereals are great for breakfast but you must make sure you don’t overeat. If you do you are more likely to gain weight. I know this because I gained a couple of pounds because I ate too much whole grain cereals for breakfast with milk. This was the only change I made in my diet plan. So moderation is the key to healthy eating and losing weight.
The best snacks you can eat are fresh fruits and vegetables. Pack some fruits and vegetables you like and you will always be ready to fight hunger in a healthy way. Plus you get a minimum of calorie and lots of vitamins and minerals really cheaply.
May 20, 2010 at 5:33 am
Great site! I’m 16 years old, 5’9, and 205 pounds. Just last year, i was 175, but then i cut out most of my exercise because of a new job i started and because i am a video game addict. This site has inspired me to start exercising more often, and will definitely follow these tips! thanks!
May 24, 2010 at 8:18 pm
I was wondering, the 2 snacks can they be like healthy bars or 100 calorie bars ? And how many calories a day I should eat ? 1000 or less ? Thank You !
May 25, 2010 at 6:40 pm
The number of calories you should eat depends on many factors. The best way to make sure you get enough calories and still lose weight is by eating just enough healthy food to keep hunger away. The best low calorie foods are vegetables, fruits and white meat.
For the snacks you can eat anything that will make the hunger go away just as long as needed to reach the next meal. You shouldn’t eat a snack instead of a meal.
May 29, 2010 at 7:14 pm
hi! im 17 weigh 170 and am 5’3. 5 months ago i weighd 140. i liked my weight even though i was over weight
Now Im practically Obese
. My porblem is that i eat for emotional needs. i broke up with my bf 5 months ago so i went to food for emotional support
.. can u gime some adive on how i can avoid eating for emtional needs !!
May 31, 2010 at 4:00 pm
The best way that I have found to take control of my emotional eating is by channeling all my negative emotions into something useful. So instead of eating try listening to some music, taking a walk, practicing some kind of hobby or even working out. It is like the old advice that is given to smokers: when you feel the need to smoke chew a gum. It makes you stop smoking but you become a gum addict. So be careful what you choose as a substitute.

Im fifteen and around 140 and im 5’3.. i really want to lose thirty pounds so i can be average for my age and height.i have tried to lose weight, but it never seems to work. I exercise, but dont always eat right. I am not comfortable with my body at all. this reason is because i have stretch marks from being overweight. do you have any tips on how to get rid of them and help me lose weight??????
June 1, 2010 at 2:12 pm
If you want to lose 30 pounds, even more or less weight, just follow the advice I gave you in the article above.
When it comes to getting rid of stretch marks I don’t have a solution that works. I have some stretch marks too because I gained weight fast a long time ago and it too me a long time to get it off. I still have some stretch marks, but they are a lot smaller and less visible. Lasing weight has this effect.
I came to terms with my stretch marks and I consider them war scars from my battle against fat. I have searched for solutions but I wasn’t able to find something 100% effective. If you do please get back to me because I am interested.

Hi, I am 18, 5’10″ and I weigh about 180lbs. My goal is to lose thirty pounds this summer and to have a nice, slimmer, toned body when I go back to school in the Fall. I stumbled upon you site while I was looking for some tips. My plan is to cut back calories, drink nothing but water, and to not eat after about 7-8 pm. I do not normally eat breakfast but I am starting to grab a small bite of something to kick start my day. I really hope this works and I will inform you of when I lose that 30lbs.
June 6, 2010 at 11:35 pm
I wish you good luck Kyle. I hope you will be able to lose 30 pounds. Please get back to me and tell me how it went. If you need any help send me an email.

June 12, 2010 at 3:04 pm
Any form of exercise is great. Especially if you have a sedentary life. Anybody that wants to lose weight should start exercising. You can start with less physically challenging exercises. When you realize you are getting diminishing returns from your exercise routine increase their difficulty. That is the best way to make sure you always benefit from your workout.
June 14, 2010 at 2:29 am
I started exercising about a month and half ago – 40 mins of cardio everyday. I drink 6-8 glasses of water a day and I eat 3 normal meals with occasional snacking but I haven’t seen any weight loss at all. (I’m not sure if this is relevant but due to shin splints, I cut my work out to 4 days a week, 30 mins a day, about a week ago) Any advice?
June 14, 2010 at 9:57 pm
How hard was it to implement these changes in your life? If you were active before and ate healthy food this weight loss plan has a small impact on your body and you will get smaller results over time. The bigger the results you want the more you must change your lifestyle and eating habits.
Also cardio isn’t that great for weight loss because it doesn’t help that much. Try some strength training exercises to increase your muscle mass and benefit from the increased fat burning that you get after you finish doing the exercises.

Hi, I’m 16 ,5’2”, 130 pounds.
My goal is to get down to 100 by the start of my senior year. So I would be doing this over summer vacation.
Would following this article verbatum help me do so?
How many calories would you recommend comsuming daily for this goal?
My problem is that I binge eat, I take my stress out on food. I gained 30 pounds this year and I’m sick of it. I want to to go back to how I was at the start of this year.
Thank you
This article was great by the way.
June 21, 2010 at 6:23 am
I’m 16, 5’2”, 130 pounds, and I’m looking to lose about 30 pounds by the time my senior year starts. So I have summer vacation to work on my diet/exercise regimen.
If I followed the information in this article verbatum, would I be able to do that? How many calories would you recommend I eat to achieve this goal?
My problem is that I binge eat and take my stress out on food, so I feel like summer is the only time I’d really be able to commit to a diet/exercise program.
This article was great by the way, very uplifting

Yes Maria it will help you lose 30 pounds in a natural and healthy way. In this article I present the backbone of any healthy weight loss plan. The only sticking point of this lose 30 pounds in 3 months weight loss plan is eating the correct amount of food.
I can’t tell you directly how much food to eat because everybody is different. The idea is to eat enough food to make hunger go away but not feel stuffed. Striking that sweet spot will speed up your weight loss dramatically. Combine it with eating healthy food (lots of veggies and fruits) and it will be almost impossible not to lose weight.
When it comes to binge eating you must find a way to put an end to it. Reduce the frequency of binge eating until it just doesn’t happen anymore. Since your binge eating is stress related you should try meditating as a way to manage and eliminate the stress from your life. Getting rid of stress should be your first priority because stress forces your body to gain weight and to deteriorate your health. I know people who have lost weight just because they got rid of the stress form their life.
If you need any further help just write a comment or send me an email. I am glad you liked the article and I hope you will follow through with your decision to lose weight. You have to stick with your weight loss plan even if you go off it for 1 day. Say it’s Sunday night and your friends make you eat lots of junk food. Come Monday get back on your weight loss plan. Also make a commitment to not let your friends influence your decision next time.

This is a GREAT article. I too want to lose 30 pounds in 3 months. Although I new this information in the back of my mind, to see it put together with reasoning helps to put it into action. It can be done, and I CAN do it. I am 5’6″ and 199 pounds. Although I could stand to lose more than 30 pounds, I want to accomplish this goal first. The rest will follow.. Thanks again

I can’t wait to hear form you Crystal with amazing news. I see you all pumped up and excited and I know you will succeed.

Hi, I’m 18, 5’4” and weigh 160, my heaviest ever! I’ve been living in Dubai for three years and the lifestyle there makes you so lazy, so I gained 30 lbs in 3 years and now I wanna lose them in 3 months (I just left Dubai). Your advice obviously makes sense the most, I just hope I can do it this time. I’m gonna start jogging for about 30 minutes tomorrow and it shouldn’t be hard to pick up the pace, I play basketball anyway. So here starts my journey!]
Hopefully by September 25th, I’ll be back to my ideal weight of 130 pounds. Wish me luck!
June 24, 2010 at 11:52 pm
Good luck Nadine! I know you will lose 30 pounds if you set your mind to it and stick to your weight loss plan.
July 10, 2010 at 5:38 pm
I need to lose 30 pounds. I eat lots of high protein, low fat food (like plain tuna), lots of veggies, and snack on lowfat yogurt during the day, I also swim and do weights/cardio at the gym for about an hour+/ a day 6 days a week. I am not really seeing any results and only have 87 more days to my deadline. Any advice? I don’t really have any more time to spend at the gym, because that will put me working out after 9pm then Insomnia sets in.
The only thing I can honestly say I need more of is water. I know I don’t drink enough water but I had bladder surgery in January and water just goes right through me. Working in a cubicle all day isn’t really conducive to restroom breaks every 10 minutes.
Thanks!

It sounds to me that you are very stressed Gretchen. Stress is very fattening. If you take a thin person, make her keep its diet plan and exercise level but add stress and she will gain weight. Many naturally thin people gain weight during stressful periods of time, and lose it once they get rid of it. So you have to find a way to get rid of stress. Have you ever tried meditating to clear your mind and eliminate stress?
You should really give meditating a try. Find some calming music, crate a relaxing environment around you, sit in a comfortable position and just relax. Let the stress melt away. You will be amazed of the results.
You have been pushing yourself very hard to achieve your weight loss goal. It is very common to strive for something and only get it once you get more detached and relaxed. It happened to me several times during my life. Sometimes going full frontal after something works, at other times it takes a more relaxed approach.
When you are more relaxed you have a clear mind and you can see where you are making mistakes. For example I went to the gym for 1 whole year, 4 times a week without getting any significant results. My brother came for just 3 months and he got all the results he was after. I was really furious. After calming down, analyzing my workout routine and taking working out more litely I was able to get to where I wanted to be from a fitness perspective in just 2 months. Go figure.
All I can say to you is to take a detached look at your weight loss program, see where possible flaws could be hidden. To make good decisions learn to relax and eliminate stress from your life. Especially don’t let losing weight stress you and frustrate you. You won’t get any results that way. Find creative ways to have fun while losing weight and the results will show up.
PS:try to drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. It really helps improve your health. When it is hotter than hell outside drink a little more water. Just to be on the safe side.

heloo(: my name is Dominique. i’m 14 years old going to be a sophomore so i’m kind of youngish. I’m 165 pounds at the height of 5’2″. I am actually very very active.. i play competitive soccer.. so i practice for 2 hours sometimes 3 hours four days a week and i usually have games every weekend with one day off during the week..
Once i got into highschool i realized that i needed to change the way i look just so i would stop being made fun of and to get in better shape for soccer although i did play varsity my freshman year.
My problem is mainly my eating.. i honestly dont eat that much really i just think its kind of all wrong.. and its hard to eat healthy when the rest of my family simply doesnt. My sister is thin and plays soccer, so she doesnt have to worry about what she eats and my parents just dont seem to care. I discussed that i wanted to lose weight with them and they told me it was a dumb idea and refused to go along with it, so they have stocked up even more on junk food and all that crap. I think it would be a lot easier if i got support from them.
It’s summer so i’m really tempted to just lay around and eat and do nothing all day, especially because i have TONS of summer homework that i have to sit down for hours to complete..
Once school starts, it will be even harder with hours of homework, soccer practice, and little sleep. I also play basketball for the school, so that will add even more to my schedule..
I know what i have done wrong in my past, i know what i have done right, i know what i need to change, and i can change it, just somethingg that makes me give in a lot.. i cant figure it out. i feel so weak and powerless.. and i absolutely hate it..
Any suggestions?
July 14, 2010 at 1:57 am
Wow I am amazed at what young age you realized the importance of a healthy balanced life. Truly amazing. Congratulations for that.
From what you wrote you seem a very active person. The only sticking point is eating lots of junk food. The fact that your parents are refusing to get involved is too bad. It sound that they could benefit form healthier eating also.
The first thing you should do is eat more fruits and veggies. I know this health tips is ever present, but it is the best thing you can do for your health. It is amazing how little raw food most people eat.The more fresh fruits and vegetables you eat the better. If your family can afford it, organic fruits and veggie are the best choice. Since you are still growing make sure you give your body enough proteins form low fat meat. Grilled chicken meat is great. Please avoid deep frying your food, especially the meat you eat.Boiling, baking or grilling your food is the best way to cook it. For more healthy eating tips browse the site. There are tons of them.
If your parents are stubborn about buying healthier food, go with them shopping. While at the supermarket guide your parent towards healthier foods. Put more fruits and vegetables in the shopping cart. At home you can cook your own meals. I don’t think your parents will force you to eat exactly what they eat. Be proactive and help your parent see the light at the end of the tunnel.
You get lots of aerobic exercises, but you should also consider doing some light strength training exercises. All you need are two dumbbells to exercise in your home. Your purpose shouldn’t be building muscle, but strengthening your muscles.
A great time to exercise a little is just before you have to study. It will oxygenate your brain better and make you perform a lot better while doing your homework. You get to train your body and get an A too. Pretty cool. Just don’t exercise too hard because then you will get too tired to think.
This summer don’t just stand around, find some physically challenging activities in which you can get involved. You could also get a job, moving lawns, moving furniture, helping a neighbor with home repairs… you will get to make some money and exercise too. Find something that you like to do and do it.
Take small baby steps in the right direction and soon you won’t feel weak and powerless anymore. Since you are young, if you form a good healthy lifestyle you will avoid lots of health problems later. You don’t need to diet. Just get good eating habits and you will be just fine.
July 16, 2010 at 5:47 am
should i be eating protiens in all 3 meals or what should i eat?
July 16, 2010 at 6:02 am
Hi, I am 13 years old and 4’10″ and weight about 120 lbs. my goal is to be 95 lbs. what kind of exercises can I do in order to achieve this goal in three months?? if I were to run on the treadmill at speed 5 for 20 minutes, eat better (and follow the tips you mentioned in the article), and do this 6 minute workout I found (1 minute of pushups, 1 minute of curl ups, 1 minute of lunges, 1 minute of squats, 1 minute of planks, and one minute of reverse standing curlups) could I achieve this goal?
July 17, 2010 at 4:50 am
It depends. If you are working out a lot and you want to strengthen and increase your muscle mass, increasing the number of calories you eat will help you achieve that goal. Also if you are getting hungry all the time, an extra portion of healthy proteins will help you get a lot less often hungry.
If your goal isn’t that of building too much muscle mass, you don’t have to eat that much. But you still need them. The simple way to evaluate how often you need to eat proteins is by looking at how often you exercise and how hard you exercise. The more you push your muscles, the more repairing they will need, which in turn needs proteins. To keep your muscles lean and strong adjust your protein intake accordingly.
If you are doing only light exercise, mainly walking, you don’t need that many proteins. To avoid getting hungry all the time just eat more dietary fiber rich foods. They will keep you full for longer periods of time while supplying your body with just a few calories.
It is hard to give you a clear cut answer. It all depends on your goals and your current physical shape and activity. The golden rule is to give your body all the nutrients making sure they are healthy and in the required quantity. Learn to listen to your body and it will tell you exactly what it needs and how much it needs.
July 17, 2010 at 5:03 am
I believe you will. While exercising make sure you do it at an above average intensity. If you don’t sweat a little you aren’t exercising. I would recommend you run on the treadmill for 30 minutes 3 times a day and turn the 6 minutes workout into a 12 minutes workout 2 times a day (just do each exercise twice). This should get you started and on your way.
Another great way to get plenty of exercise is to go out with your friends and play ball or any other game that involves lots of movement. I know that getting disconnected from the computer or the tv can be hard, but having fun outside with your friends beats it by far. Just engage into fun physical activities. If you don’t have willing friends, join a karate dojo, a dance class, a sports team… you get the idea. You will form new friendships, have fun and get a monster workout without knowing it. Plus you get to learn something new and cool.
Since you are so young please don’t use diets to lose weight. Just get good healthy eating habits and you are set for life. Your body will grow and this will help you become thinner even if you maintain your current weight. So don sweat it. Just eat healthy food that doesn’t come in a package and a huge ingredients list and find a sport you enjoy doing and start practicing it 3-4 times a week. You will never have weight problems in your whole life if you do this and stick with it.

hi,im katie. im almost 16 years old, 6 feet tall and about 170 pounds. my goal is 140.i have this condition called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)and it makes it really hard to maintain a healthy weight. I have been struggling with my weight since i was about 12 and went through puberty. thats when my pcos became a know problem in my life. since then i have struggled with self image, confidence and inumerable amounts of fad diets to try to lose weight. but still, i try to eat as healthy as possible, and have an active life. i feel like i go through phases where i am so focused, and eating perfectly and feel so good. but then, i have just a bite of something, and it completly throws me off track. then i find myself gaining weight, and binging on all junk food throughout the day. i dont know why cheating once just totally throws me off, but it ruins my hard work and makes me feel like crap.i am about to go into my sophmore year, and all i wish for is that i can be happy and confident in myself for school. Is there anything you would reccomend for me?
August 13, 2010 at 11:51 pm
It seems to me Katie that what you need is a healthy dose of self-belief in your own powers. How can a cookie be more powerful than you. If you indulge a craving it doesn’t meant that you messed up all your healthy eating and you need to binge like crazy.
The trick is to eat just a small of unhealthy food when you feel the need. You eat the cookie because you want to and because you can. From that position you won’t need to worry about binging again.
You are still young and getting healthy habits should be your main focus. They will also help you control your PCOS, maybe even cure it. Having healthy eating habits doesn’t mean that you can never eat junk food. Heaving healthy eating habits is all about being in control of what you eat.If you can exert portion control and make wise eating choices you will be set for life and enjoy a beautiful healthy body.
A trick you can use is the following. Each time you want to eat some junk food, first eat a healthy portion of some healthy food. Never eat junk food when you are hungry. Only eat junk food when you have the munchies, not because of hunger.

I’m sixteen, 5’6, and I weigh 180 pounds. I’ve been running for half an hour everyday and when I get home, I do 100 sit-ups. I also play field hockey. I have practice for 2 hours three days a week. Soon to be six days a week. I eat 1200 calories a day. I know I can lose 30 pounds in three months. But does anyone have any other advice?
August 19, 2010 at 4:50 am
I will be starting my more serious task to lose 30 lbs here today. I was a fit 5’10″ weighing 155 lbs, athletic and very active male before. tragedy struck me when i injured my spine in a basketball game. I had to stop all physical activites by then. I started gaining weight as i resorted to eating more than what i used to since the accident. I was able to recover from the injury but the toll was visible enough. goodbye 6 packs. I started slowly and gained my strength back together with my form until another tragedy struck. I lost my fiance. (sad face) the emotional stress that i went through was hard. it rendered me useless for months and again I returned to my couch potato lifestyle. From 155 lbs i have blown up to an embarassing, to 210 lbs. That’s putting a two year old in me. I started to have health problems and my apetite spiraled just out of control. I f***ed up myself.
4 months ago I decided it’s over. I have to be me again. I started out with a decent diet and light exercise and maintained it for the 4 months. Now, I am 190 lbs (i hit 185 but i gained it back by being lazy during weekends) Now my goal is to be at 160 lbs by January 1, 2011. I stumbled in this site and found it very interesting and it inspired me to step up all my efforts. I want my goal badly. but the question how willing I am to sacrifice for it. and so are you.
I just finished my weights routine for today as I am writing this. just 30 minutes of intense upper body weight exercises and tons of stairs and squats for my legs. I am eating healthy and even if it’s my bro’s bday tomorrow, there will be no excuses. let’s help motivate each other to gain our goals. I will give up elevator use starting tomorrow at work. (I am working in 6th floor) not bad I guess. No sodas, no more subway lunches, no more popcorn in movies, no more chocolate bars, ( i still have a twix in my lunchbag) LOL. and hello healthy balanced diet. oh, most especially no more beer and hard drinks. (I guess sex will count as exercise eh?, so I will not scrap that out) lmao
I will be posting my progress in this site from now on and hope to inspire others to follow up in our goal. 1-1-2011 my goal is 160 lbs. I have barely 3 and 1/2 months to go. can I do it? Yes I will. and so will you.
Let’s make our dreams to reality and say hello to our new selves. booooyyyeaaaahhh!!! I’m pumped!
Good luck everyone!

Are Fiber one bars healthy?
September 7, 2010 at 2:42 am
I can definately vouche for this article. A friend of mine gave me the same advice a year or so ago – and the results have been fantastic. I went from 175lbs (@ 5’7) to 145lbs and have kept it off for 5 months so far. Once you decide to make the lifestyle change..it’s really pretty easy to maintain.
It took about 2.5 – 3 months. It was by no means easy at first. I had a HUGE love for food..especially the kind that probably wasnt the healthiest (fast food, chips, cookies…anything that tasted good).
I completely cut out fast food and ANY carbonated drink (except for maybe once a week…usually Saturdays). I traded it for water with crystal lite. TASTEY! I also started taking a multivitamin once a day. Instead of eatting out every day for lunch..Id make something the night before – or ask my mom to do it for me haha. I eat alot of fish and a lot of veggies. And fruit..I can not get enough fruit. I had suuuccchh a hard time at first making the transition…but now I dont even notice the healthy choices im making, they are just comming natural.
As for exercise – I do 45 mins of cardio five days a week. Either treadmill or eliptical. Anything to get your heart pumping
I also bought a couple of Winsor Pilates dvds which i consider now to be a sent from god. The results from these DVD’s are fantastic.
I am proof that its totally possible – & this article gives exactly the right advice.

I’m glad I found this article. Although, it really just put into words what I know already. I’m 5’2″, and currently weigh 161 pounds. Before I was pregnant last year I got down to 129. It was really tough, and it took a long time. Then when I was pregnant I was letting myself think that after all the eating I was doing, after I had the baby, all that weight I gained was just going to go away. NOT! And my problem is I already know what I need to do! I do fine during the day, eating a light breakfast and lunch with a fat free yogurt or some fruit as snacks. Then in the evening, when my time is very limited, I just binge. I guess in my head I know I don’t have a lot of time to eat while taking care of the baby, I just shove whatever’s quickest in my mouth, whether it’s fast food, snacks, etc. And then on top of it all, I have ZERO time to exercise. I would love to get back down to where I was, even though it was still slightly overweight for my height, but I felt good!
Any tips for my evening binges and how to fit some exercise in?
September 16, 2010 at 11:06 pm
For the night binging you could try preparing your evening meal beforehand. That way you will have a healthy meal ready for you.
As for exercising use your imagination to get all the exercising you need while taking care of your baby. Babies are a handful so getting enough exercising isn’t that hard, especially if you spend 1 hour playing with them.
September 16, 2010 at 11:34 pm
wow im glad i found this! im 5’2 and weigh 174. i’ve already lost 30 lbs an since im engaged and gettin married in march i wanna go for another 30 till dec and hopefully more from there. i’ve been working on drinking lots of water and exercising so im really hoping to get this thing done. i cant ever remeber being satisfied with my weight so im soooo excited to get there. im doing everything i know!
September 19, 2010 at 9:10 pm
I’m 24yrs old and currently weight 270lbs. I’ve been working out and eating right for the last 5 weeks and have managed to lose 10lbs.
I agree that your post is perfectly do-able as long as you are willing to work for the results. Some things I would like to add are finding yourself a work out buddy to hold you accountable. I have two girls that I work with that work out with me 5 days a week and it makes the workouts go by so much faster. Also, setting realistic weight loss goals. I know that I can’t lose 5lbs in one week, but I CAN lose 5lbs in two weeks.
Also, make sure to incorporate weight training because that is actually what helps you burn more fat. Muscle does amazing things for your weight loss routines.
I wish everyone the best of luck. You can follow my weight loss journey of 100lbs at http://www.janak2004.blogspot.com

I am a junior in high school and i weigh 145 pounds and am 5’3″ I want to be back to my freshman year weight of 115 pounds. I have tried to lose weight before but I can’t stay commited. Will this plan work for me and how can I stay commited?
September 22, 2010 at 4:41 pm
If you stay commited I guarantee that this weight loss plan will work for you. Just stick to it and you will get results. Sticking to any healthy weight loss plan for long enough will get you results. But if you don’t do anything you can’t expect to get results.
September 24, 2010 at 11:41 pm
Hi, I am 22 years old. I am 5’3 and weigh 155 pounds. I never had to exercise in high school, i was more artsy not athletic. I used to be a very tiny girl. I was 100 pounds (which was not good either). However, my point is now I am 155 pounds and don’t know what to do. You’re advice is very good, however. I have more questions. I have a great gym in my apt. building. So i can work out. But do i eat before I work out? or after? what do i eat? I don’t know the first thing about working out. I took my weight for granted. Everytime, i go to the gym, i wind up hurting myself or overdoing it. I don’t know what a healthy does is for a workout. I want to do this Warrior Bash that is in January. I want to look good. I have lost all my self confidence and its hurting my relationship with myself and my spouse. The water tip is great. I can handle that, its just any other pointers you might have. I have one more question. It’s Sept. 24th. My 23rd birthday is November 13. What is my realistic target weight loss for then? Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I really appreciate it.
September 26, 2010 at 5:57 am
I am 16 years old, 5’6″ and a mix of French-Canadian and Greek. I just got back from a month-long trip to Greece. All the food there contributed to my now weiging in at 197 pounds (around a 10 pound gain). I have been wanting and trying to lose weight for as long as I can think, but now being 3 pounds away from 200 makes me scared that I will never be able to get on track! My mom is also overweight and she tries to be as healthy as possible. She’s always encouraged me and the rest of my family to be healthy, eating and exercising as we should be. Ever since grade 7 though I have HATED gym class, I was always self consious about my body and I hated having to throw myself around while trying to play sports and not be in anyone’s way. To this day I try to avoid sports except the occasional throwing of a football with my dad… My friends were even surprised the other day that I actually owned running shoes! I am still very self-consious about my body. I want to change that because my feelings are causing a lot of stress for me because I’m thinking about it all the time, everywhere I go. My biggest problem is that I can hardly ever stick to exercising for more than 2 weeks, and eating healthy for more than 3 months. I really need to come up with a plan that I will stick with, If I am going to acheive my goal weight of around 140… because I know that I will never be stick thin!
What are some tips you have for sticking with it?
September 27, 2010 at 4:49 am
I used to go to a dietician/nutritionist and he taught me a really cool way to figure out how many calories to consume everyday. EX: If you are 130bs. you would need to consume 1300 (130×10) calories everyday to just STAY THE SAME. So, if you want to loose weight you just need to consume less than your WEIGHT TIMES TEN you will loose weight. Any exercise should also be considered though. If you exercise you may be able to consume a little more and it “won’t count” because you burned the calories. Also, if you eat something “bad” (i.e. fattening) you can just work it off the very next day and it won’t effect you. I am going to try the water trick too! I do the “water trick” with OJ usually so water will prob work better. Thanks!
September 27, 2010 at 3:54 pm
Before going to the gym you can have a very light snack that contains healthy carbs. That way you will have the required energy to exercise. After the workout is done drink plenty of water. If you are very hungry try drinking a homemade smoothie. Ideally you should avoid eating something fattening after exercising.
All gyms have trainers in them. Just go and ask a trainer to create an exercise routine just for you. tell him what your sticking points are and he will help you get around them. Also keep in touch with your trainer, tell him what you are doing and your difficulties and he will help keep your workout routine in balance.
You shouldn’t do the same exercises all week long for month. As you become more fit your workout routine will change and adapt to your fitness level. That way you will avoid injuries and you will continue to benefit form your workout.
September 27, 2010 at 4:05 pm
Hannah, your main problem are the mental blocks and barriers you create for yourself. From what you said it seems to me that your mind is working against you, not for you. So the first thing you should do is create a powerful ally by changing your mindset and beliefs about weight loss. To help you do this I recommend you buy some books written by Richard Bandler. They are great.
While you work on your weight loss mind set you should also start exercising. Start by walking 2 miles each day and increase the distance as time goes by. Soon you will find yourself jogging
Also when you wake up early in the morning do some light stretching and exercise using some weights (a dumbbell set is great for this). Exercising beats the morning coffee by far and you will feel more energetic for the whole day.
Since you can eat healthy food for 3 months why don’t you do it again. Once the 3 months are up, take 3 days off and then start another 3 months.
Successful weight loss programs aren’t about doing the right thing all the time. It’s about acknowledging that you will slip up from time to time and that it is ok. All you have to do is keep going and continue doing what works more often than what doesn’t to get results.
September 27, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Eating 10 calories per pound might be too little for most people. What I suggest people do is eat enough healthy filling foods as to never feel hungry while losing weight. There are plenty of low calorie foods that you can eat and cook. Fruits and vegetables are the backbone of any good healthy diet. And by going from a McDonalds meal to a fruit and veggie based meal you eliminate an astonishing amount of calories. Plus you never feel hungry.

Hey, I need to lose around 25 pounds, You think I could do it in 2 months healthily?
October 9, 2010 at 8:34 pm
Yes you could if you aren’t on a weight loss plan at the moment. In the first 1- 2 weeks of any weight loss plan you lose a lot more weight because your body has to catch up and get used to the change. So it can be done.
October 15, 2010 at 2:07 am
I really, really need motivation to stick through this. I need to lose 60 pounds–to be healthy. Diabetes 2 runs in my family :/ I’m about to turn 19, about 5’5″ but weight 202 lbs!!! Heeeelp
October 24, 2010 at 10:42 pm
I am recently engaged to my boyfriend of 6 1/2 years. We plan to have our wedding this May 2011, so I have about 7 months (including the holidays)to lose as much weight as humanly possible. I am a strict vegetarian and have been since I was 10. Unfortunately carbs and cheese were what I usually went for, especially when I was depressed or eating emotionally. Three years ago I gained 25-30 lbs in three months due to high stress at home. Since our engagment I am fully motivated to loose weight. I have started my diet and for the past 6 days been keeping myself on track. I even got up early this morning to go for a 30 min walk/jog with my dog and even did some free weights while sitting at my work desk. I am 27, 5’6 and currently 175 lbs!! I want to feel beautiful and confident by the time of my wedding, so if I stick to what I’m doing what is my realistic weight loss? I want to go beyong 30 lbs if possible.
October 27, 2010 at 7:27 am
I’m a very depressed individual. I’ve experienced so many tragedies in my life that I filled them with food. I was a good looking girl before I was raped. Then it happened again- To make myself undesirable, I shoved unhealthy food down my gullet and became very, very dependent on alcohol.
There are a lot of things that must change. I keep putting myself down constantly, telling myself that I’m disgusting. What a backfire being overweight has brought on. I’ve lost all my motivation and yearn for it to return.
I was searching earlier this evening for places in my general area where I could have surgery done to correct my misery; then I stumbled upon this site. Perhaps things will turn around for me, naturally, and things will return to pre-humiliation. I really want to find that someone special, but people always go by what’s on the outside. And with the 5’1″ 170 pound body I’m sporting now, I’m undesirable.
wish me luck
October 29, 2010 at 12:27 am
I am 24 years old and turn 25 in 3 months. I have gained 30 lbs in three years and would like to get down to a heathly 125. I completely agree with the routine and just need the strength to keep it up. I’m starting my diet right now wish me luck!!!!
October 29, 2010 at 1:57 am
The best thing you can do Jennie is keep a track of your weight loss results. If they are good keep doing what you are doing. If you don’t get any results step up your weight loss effort until you get results. Adjust your weight loss method as needed.
October 29, 2010 at 2:09 am
April I am so sorry for what happened to you. It is a tragedy. But the best part about the past is that it is gone and all you have in front of you is the future. Learn from your past, but don’t let you past destroy all your life. So what if you had a shitty life, you got a bad hand of cards. What are you going to do with the remainder if your life.
Life is so short. One moment you are here the next one you aren’t. Go after your dreams and do your best to turn them into reality. Look at Oprah. She had a really bad childhood but that didn’t stop her to raise herself out of the gutter while looking at the stars.
Also if you are overweight it doesn’t mean that you are undesirable. There are plenty overweight women who have men flicking over them while at the same time there are skinny women that no man wants once they get to know them. It’s all in the attitude.
October 29, 2010 at 2:11 am
Good luck Monica. I know you can do it if you set your mind.
October 30, 2010 at 6:27 am
I’m about 5’9″ and I weigh about 164 lbs. I’m 19 (turning 20 in Feb) Its really hard to look at myself anymore. I gained about 40 lbs due to my baby. she was a still born so I do not have her. I have a lot of mixed emotions about my body and self image. I’m getting married to the father of my baby in February and I really hope this works out for me. Its so hard to just give up when I used to look SO AMAZING. Thanks for the crystal clear information on here though. You also left out that every once in a while (the less the better but at least once a week) you should indulge in your favorite things. Say its a chocolate bar. You should eat just one a week. That way you don’t over indulge after having a diet breakdown. We are only human. And its just chocolate
Loved the artical though
October 31, 2010 at 9:41 am
Can anyone post a meal plan ? Just one or two days so I can see what I should eat
I am 16 and I weigh 187
so that’s kind of an idea of my daily calorie intake
it should be waaaaay less than 1800 calories thanks
and also is it possible to 30 pounds in 2 months????
November 6, 2010 at 7:21 pm
I am sorry for your loss Elisabeth. A true tragedy that nobody should go through. I hope you will have a great wedding, story like. Remember, even if you don’t lose all the weight you want, have a blast during your wedding. You only get married once, so make sure you enjoy it fully. It is your day.
You are absolutely right about the fact that you need to indulge your cravings from time to time. Fighting against your cravings is impossible.

I really liked this article for losing weight. I am very much upset due to my weight these days. I am 180 pounds and my height is 5.1. The problem is, I have genetic tendency to gain weight. I am a full time university student and work part time so it is very difficult for me to follow strict plans. Can you please suggest what should I do. I want to lost minimum 50 pounds. Do you you think I will be able to achieve it with your given instructions in 5 months?
November 19, 2010 at 12:30 am
I love the article. I’m 17 5’2″ and I have been trying to lose weight since I was 12 and it has been a real roller coaster. I have fallen for those fad diets in the past and now I have a personal trainer and I finished my first 1/2 marathon in September so I am really looking forward to losing the weight and being able to run further and faster. I’ll keep everyone posted.
Starting: 143

I’m a 13 year old girl at 4’11″ weighing at 125 lbs.. I know how to lose weight, it’s just that I am having a lot of trouble getting motivated and sticking to working out/ eating healthier. I’m also only going to grow about another inch so im not really going to “grow out of my weight”. I lost 8 lbs last winter and got down to 113 lbs, but I gained it all back plus more. My goal weight is between 95-100 lbs. Do you have any tips to get me and keep me motivated? I really want to feel less self conscious and buy my first bikini to wear and feel good in it, but Im not doing so well.
November 22, 2010 at 7:30 pm
Saba, you should be able to lose 10 pounds per month. That is quite a healthy weight loss rate. So you can definitively lose 50 pounds in 5 months.
November 22, 2010 at 7:37 pm
Janie, just eat healthy food and try to spend as little time as possible in front of the computer or the tv. Be active. Play with your friends and keep moving. The more physically active you will be the faster you will lose weight, especially at your young age.
You should also consider taking dancing lessons or get involved with your schools sport teams.

I’m 14 years old, 5’5″ and weigh 203 lbs I’m completely aware how bad that is and I also have diabetes in my family, so I’ve decided to do something about and the only thing I could find were “Lose 50 lbs in 2 weeks!” and other things like that. This site on the other hand sums everything up quite nice and has inspired me to continue my weight loss journey.
Thanks, Danica .
November 24, 2010 at 6:08 pm
This article sounds great, and I plan on taking this all in to complete my goals.
I’m 22 and currently 5’5 162lbs. My goal is to be 125-130. I have worked out in the past (for months at a time), and the thinnest I have ever been at my height is 140. All my life I have never been a really “thin” person. Always on the high end of avg. I guess you can say I am nervous that I will not be able to reach my goal. I have been working out about an hour a day 6 days a week, incorporating 1 hour of strength training only 2 of those days for every body muscle. (only 2 weeks now)
If I had to analyze myself for why I’ve failed, I would say it may be the diet. I am good at counting calories and choosing the correct foods. But I have a hard time sticking to it! I hate analyzing everything that goes into my mouth. Do you have any suggestions for me and am I approaching the exercise routine correctly? My plan was to get to 140 then purchase a personal trainer, but if I can do it myself I would like to.
Thank you!
November 24, 2010 at 6:31 pm
Amber, your workout plan sounds great and should work like a charm. Soon you will find yourself with a great looking body.
As for the counting calories thing, the best thing to do is learn which foods are good and healthy and which aren’t. By knowing all the foods that help you lose weight, or the main categories, you will find it a lot easier to prepare your meals. For detailed instructions on this use the Metab-O-Meter, enter your email to use the Metabolic Type Calculator and you will also receive the Don’t Starve Yourself to Lose Weight Online Course for free. In it you will find all the info you are looking for.

So, I want to do everything I can to lose 30-40 pounds by March 2011. Problem is I have never been active & have always eaten unhealthy. You know lots of fast food & TV. Due to this I find I never really have much energy. I usually eat 1 big meal a day which doesn’t help. I maintained the weight of 170 pounds (which I was happy with) until I was about 20 or so & since I am now 210 pounds. I am 6 feet tall & 32 years old now. I really would like to lose the weight & also get muscular at the same time. I’ve always wanted a “6 pack”! But how do I do it safely? I can walk no problem, heck, I probably walk a mile or two when I work but I’d be lucky to jog a block. How do I safely approach this & is it reasonable to think I can do this by March? Thanks, Shawn
November 28, 2010 at 1:30 am
Shawn, losing weight is all about being proactive. It all depends on you and how your body reacts to your weight loss plan. So I can’t guarantee that you will lose 30-40 pounds by March. What I can guarantee is that you can lose 30-40 pounds if you stick with it and do your best each day to achieve your weight loss goal.
Heck, if you have enough ambition and determination, you might even get the much desired 6 pack abs. You are the master of your body. Never forget that. It is up to you to shape it as you want your body to be.

Another tip to loose weight faster is based on my experience…just drink 1 glass of luke warm water with juice of one normal sized lemon in it….it will help alot

Okayyyy i need helppppppp, im 20 yrs old nd im 5’8 weighing at 155 i want to lose 30 pounds. I knoww its going to be hard but i honestly cant go on a diet because i never been successful on a diet before, the longest i lasted was a week nd a half. And I want to know if i can lose weight with just exercise.
December 1, 2010 at 11:57 pm
Selammm you can lose weight only by exercising but it is an uphill battle. You have to exercise a lot day and night. What I suggest you do is to go on a diet containing only healthy foods and based on portion control. To that diet add exercising for 1 hour a day for 5 days each week and you should lose weight super fast.
December 6, 2010 at 7:20 am
I am 15, I weigh about 158 pounds and im 5’9″. The average weight for my age is about 125 pounds. If I could be as skinny as my friends that would be great. I live in a town where you rarely see obese people because we have 4 recreation centers and trails everywhere. I play varsity and competetive softball, but right now I have a ganglioe cyst in my knee so I cant do my leg exercises for the next 5 weeks. I want to lose weight because my boyfriend of 1.5 years weighs less than me. He is 17, 6′ and weighs about 147lbs. I hate my weight. I amn usually really active but as the end of summer neared I gained a lot of weight. It all seemed to go to my butt and my breats which both have stretch marks on them. I went from a B cup sixe to a DD in about a month. I dont like feeling like I have to suck in my stomach around my friends. Help me. I want to use the advice on this site but my knee is holding me back. If anyone has any advice I will take it, Im desparate.

Hi… Okay a couple years ago I was 16 and weighed 165 lbs and I currently weigh 140 or so.. I’m 18 5’2 I’m struggling so bad to lose just 10 – 15 lbs at least but it’s like I can’t hold a stable diet anymore and convincing myself to workout is a chore.. No one here (my home) seems to understand and even care to.. I feel so alone and through the years of working on weight loss I was alone.. Made stupid decisions.. I guess I just need some support on this..

Hi! I’m 20 years old, 5’5″, a little less than 160. I work out a lot (I’m in the Army), so I can handle exercise, but I just have no results appearance-wise. The only thing that really bothers me is my stomach. I’m in college and I’m going on spring break for the first time since like middle school. I’m really excited to get this program started and to actually stick to something for once. I want to look and feel good when I go out in a bathing suit! I really want to get down to 130 before March 13th ish. So, the rest of December, January, February, and a little bit of March to go! My biggest problem is that I eat like once a day. I’m really going to make a committment to eating frequently, and not buying ANY junk food. I was planning on buying a work out DVD or something, but this website kicked me back into reality. YOU CAN GET SKINNY WITHOUT SPENDING MONEY LIKE THAT! I just need a swift kick to the butt and to get to it!! Thank you!

Hi I am 19, 5’2″, and i weigh 140lbs. i have been wanting to lose weight for a while know but nothing has been working since i gained weight once i started going to college. i guess it is true you gain 15 pounds as a college freshmen!
but this seems like it will actually work for me! i will start to pack my lunch for school instead of go buy it somewhere and for now since it is really cold out and i can’t go running i am going to do the ab circle and many work out videos on demand until i get enough money to get a gym pass and it gets warm and i can go running.

Hey!!
I’m 22 yrs old about 5’7 and weigh 170lbs. I feel like I really need to loose weight for a number of reasons, I think 30lbs is an ideal goal and after that just maintaining my weight will be my focus. I would like to know what specifically can I eat before going to the gym and even after. What are some examples of meal ideas. Also I do own a gym membership but I do not drive so its hard to get there sometimes. What are some exercises I can do at home or alternatives like running up and dwn my building stairs(how many flights should I do). Also sometimes when I just walk quickly to the bus stop about 7 mins away I feel like my heart is in overdrive and I’m out of breath. What do you suggest for me to get started? Thanks so much for reading!!

I am 18 yrs old, 5’3, and about 200 pounds. I’ve been over weight all my life, since I was in elementary school and to now, as a college student. I’ve never been able to have the discipline or I guess the motivation to lose weight but I do want to. One thing is, I really don’t enjoy water, it is like taking medicine for me, personally. However, I am going to take this advice and try my best for the new year.

Dear Raw Andrew,
I’d like to congratulate you for this wonderful inspirational article and taking the time to give timely feedback to all the readers. It is today Xmas eve and I’ve decided to lose 30 pounds in 30 days. I’m 38 years old and weigh about 220 pounds (103 kgs). I want to be around 88 kgs (190 pounds). I’ve got a bigger body style have larger bones, so when I loose a little weight it really makes a difference. I do workout, but my two problems are:
1) Consistency – I skip work outs!
2) Snacking – I’m ok during whole day, but night time, even after a healthy dinner, I go pig out and attack the refrigerator
I’ve decided I want to look and feel great in 2011 by March.
Thank you!

i’m 18, i weigh 178 lbs. i have been about this size since middle school. i’m content with my size, but i really want to be healthy. over the past couple years i would start to run 4 or 5 times a week for a month or so, or even do work out videos if i couldn’t make it outside. i tried a diet and i lost 5 lbs in the first week, but then got sick if eating the same food. with my busy schedule its really hard to prepare meals. i get bored of the same thing after a while. i’ve never been able to wear a real bathing suit and would love to for spring break of my senior year. help? i need some sort of encouragement that will help me not just the first month, but the whole way through.

I am 19 and 5ft tall. I weigh 155 pounds. I have a 14 month at home who I play with non stop we are always on the move. I weighed 120 pounds when I got pregnant and I have tried everything from pills to shakes to workouts I have tried it all and I continue to gain weight. I am going to try to eat the way you stated above and hope that works. I have a wedding May 7th and I would really like to be back down to 120 by then. This article was awesome it was very motivating and to see all the comments made it very encouraging to see that I am not alone!!

I’m 5 foot 6 and weigh about 150lbs, I’m 15 years old. I’d really like to weigh 120-130 by &pril. I really hope I can do this, my main problem is the cravings. Like I’ll be completely fine then I’ll start thinkings about food, even though I’m not hungry. I tell myself you’re not hungry so do not eat! But I get up and eat the wordt thing there is to possibly eat in the house. How can I stop cravings? Also, is there an easy way to lose 5lbs in a week?
January 5, 2011 at 2:35 am
Hey…I’m only thirteen, i am 5’7 and i weigh like one hundred and thirty seven pounds :S i am really really self concious. I want to loose thirty pounds but i want to do it in a healthy way. I used to be really physically active but am not anymore. I have pretty healthy food, and stay far away from sugary beverages like sodas and coffee but i snack a lot. i’ll snack about twice a day, i usually have a fruit (today it was peaches) at around ten thirty, then after lunch at around four I’ll have crackers and cheese or something. I was just wondering how much water I should be drinking, also, any advice on achieving my goal is well appreciated
January 7, 2011 at 2:56 am
Hey, I might be one of your youngest people to lose 30lbs
haha, I’m 11 in 6th grade turning 12 this year. I weigh 125lbs which might not seem like much, but I look way overweight. I have problems with love handles. I guess I can maintain a healthy diet but oddly exsercise is my problem, I mean i can’t join a gym so i just do dance exsercises and wii fit, i go on my trampoline and I just play sports with my friends. I’m 5’2 almost 5’3 and my goal is to be 95lbs and fit in with the rest of the people in my age group. I want to finally be able to wear shorts in the summer time, so I hope I can achive my goal. So my deadline is April 6th. I hope I make it:)

Hi! Thank you for this!
My husband received some bad news from our doctor which has resulted in us having to go for IVF for a family and for this I need to lose 30lb (from 190lb) to go from having a 30% chance of it working to a 50% chance.
I love my body how it is as I love pin up but there is no point in paying $10,000 for it to fail because of me.
I’ve been at it for 3 weeks (without the article) and lost 7lbs but hopefully I will lose more as now I have decent information
Thank you xx
January 12, 2011 at 5:39 am
Omg you have the same body type as I do and you’re right around the same age as I am. My goal is to hit at least 130 pounds by April. I hope me and you both can reach our goals!!!
Good Luck!!!

i am trying to lose between 30 and 40lbs. im going to be 22 in june and i have 2 kids. because i gained so much weight from the 2 pregnancies i have this what is known as a “mom apron” or some fat that hangs down a little from my belly area and i was wondering if you knew if this would work to help get rid of it? i am currently 165 and i used to be 125 before i got pregnant and my weight when i gave birth was around 190 so i gained a HUGE amount of weight. my goal is to lose the weight by my birthday in june and i know that losing the 30 to 40 by june is a healthy goal. i have started eating more healthy and i have a gym membership now so wish me luck! ill come and write back when i get to my goal weight and lose this “mom apron” and get toned up to have my nice body back. I want to lose 30 pounds by March 11th. I’ve been trying hard to eat right and exercise often. But, I don’t have much money and neither does my family. Buying healthy food is expensive, even though at school it’s a bit easier since I eat breakfast and lunch along with snacks in between at school. But, on the weekends when I’m home, there’s junk food in the fridge and pantry. And, as I stated before buying healthy food is expensive. So, my questions is, how can I continue to eat healthy on the weekends?

January 18, 2011 at 5:58 am
To all the girls who are 12, 13, and 14, I admire you for wanting to go for a healthier lifestyle but please do not lose weight for the wrong reasons. Just because you lose 30 pounds doesn’t mean people will like you more or boys will want to be with you and it doesn’t guarantee you’ll be happier. That said, I’m 18 years old, am 5’6″, and currently weigh in at 225 pounds. I NEVER thought I would ever get to this weight. I’m a senior in high school and I am very self conscious about my weight even though nobody makes fun of me and I have friends who love me just the way I am and insist I’m not fat. But I look back at freshman year and I weighed 175 pounds. I thought I was fat then, and granted, I didn’t always eat the best then but I was playing a sport and staying active so I was toned…and looking back now, I looked good…healthy and curvy, like I’m supposed to. the weight was mostly muscle, and I hate that I hated on my body. After freshman year, I quit playing softball and settled into the life of a lazy teenager. Summer ’09 I weighed about 190 and had my first boyfriend. We broke it off in October that year and I fell into depression, causing me to at first lose five pounds because I wouldn’t eat, but then I ballooned up to 205. Vacations, birthdays, holidays, and just horrible eating habits have caught up to me and I gained 20 more pounds in way too short an amount of time…I know I’m a beautiful girl, I just wished my face wasn’t the only part of me I loved right now. The huge weight gain has caused me to get stretch marks on my arms, legs, and stomach…and my boobs are getting bigger for the wrong reasons. Today, I decided enough is enough…I am going to start college soon and I do not need to add an additional 15-30 pounds onto my already large frame
I feel lazy and sluggish and tired ALL the time! And it’s time to change
My goal is 185 in five months…it seems like a lot since some girls on here are like “i wanna be 100″, but honestly I am a naturally very curvy girl and i love myself that way…and guys love me that way too
(just saying! haha) All jokes aside I will feel healthier and happier when I am back to being me again. Not some lazy, unhealthy, exhausted, sad version of me that exists right now…I wish all the other beautiful women on here good luck as well! i know we can all succeed!
January 25, 2011 at 1:15 am
WOW! You guys have inspired me so much! I have been reading everyone’s comments and It literally makes me feel like I CAN DO THIS! I am 23 (will turn 24 in April 19) and used to have the perfect body before I had my daughter in 2006. I gained 90 lbs with her..embarrassing, yes, but I did and am admitting that. I ate so unhealthy, no joke. But, after I had her I worked out, ate right, and lost most of the weight…I was about 120-135 before I had her and when I went in to have her I weighed a whopping 210..after I had lost most of the weight I got down to 140…which I was happy with…Now..I have been eating badly for the past several years and seemed to have gained about 20 lbs…so now I am almost 160…I am between 155-160 and it sickens me..I cannot stand it anymore. I am ordering Power 90 here in a few days for my workout routine and have started eating healthy. I am a huge fan of FOOD…anything unhealthy and fast food, pop, and sweet. Who isn’t, right? But I have cut out ALL fast food and ALL pop EVEN diet..I have been drinking black coffee to give me an energy boost, Fuze (the slenderize drink that has only 20 calories in a bottle, but not too much), water, and juices. I LOVE fruits and will eat more veggies…I will get down to AT LEAST 130 within 3 months. I will keep updating as I progress…ANyone with me?!

I ran into this site and decided to give it a read. My younger sister had taken a class in college about this sort of thing so even though she was living so far away from me, I was basically using her as a sort of personal trainer. I am the biggest I have ever been in my life, being only 5ft 2in and weighing in at 147 lbs. The funny thing is people try to tell me that I’m not fat, that 147 lbs isn’t a lot of weight; they just don’t take into consideration the height. LOL When I first started my journey last week (This being 1-18-11) Hitting the gym pretty much blind. I was on the elliptical for 30 mins and then did some weights but had no idea I should have been switching them around!! Water isn’t really something that was in my daily diet either but now that I am drinking water I am experiencing chronic headaches that I just can’t seem to get rid of even with a pain reliever. However I am hoping that these headaches don’t discourage me from losing 30 lbs. I’m just not sure if going to the gym 3 times a week is really enough? My husband is in the army and with two kids, one of them being at home as well as my husband working another job on the side, it’s really hard to find the time to hit the gym. I think the gym is actually more ideal due to the chronic demand my children put on me. Working out with them around is just near impossible sadly. I will take what you said though and try my very best to obtain my goal. I’m hoping to get a digital scale for a more accurate reading on my weight because as it sits right now, I’m not trusting my scale at all. Hopefully you won’t mind me posting progress… or setbacks although I really hope I don’t have any. lol Creating this site was a GREAT idea, especially since we all have the same goal! Last not but not least; Thank you SOOOO much for not being just some other fab diet, miracle pill site and so on!!
Height – 5ft 2in
Weight – 147lbs
GOAL – 117lb

I’m 20, 5’2 and I used to be anorexic. My weight used to be 120, but since I’ve overcome that eating disorder my metabolism has been hard to maintain & I’ve gained about 30 pounds. I’ve never lost weight the “right way” or the healthy way and I’m looking into Weight Watchers but I need to save money since I’m living on my own now. Any suggestions? I want to be happy but healthy.
February 4, 2011 at 1:28 am
Hi everyone. Just came across this site. I am 21 years old and I started my weight loss journey in December. In a month and a half, I’ve lost 14 pounds. Right now, I’m at 164 pounds and I’m 5’4. I want to get back down to 135 pounds like I was two years ago. I grew up running cross country and track and continued running through college. I gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy. Then, on March 16th of last year, my daughter was stillborn at full term. I spiraled into a pit of depression and continued to gain weight. I was at 180 at age 21, when I should be in my prime. Somehow I got the motivation to go for it! A new year, a fresh start to my life. Wish me luck in continuing my journey!
February 7, 2011 at 7:45 am
Hey amanda!
I think that’s a great idea. A lot of people(including me) have trouble losing weight and stuff due to lack of motivation. Having someone to stay on track with you with updates, food ideas and whatever else would def be a huge help!

i’m 14, and i’m 5ft 3 and 165 pds..in three months it will be May, right before swimsuit season. I AM FREAKING OUT! i’ve been overweight my whole life, and i really wanna look good this summer. over the summer i was wearing bikini’s and i looked good, i was 134-140 pounds. But as soon as school started i gained a lot of weight. i stopped playing sports which also made me gain weight. I still do dance once a week for an 1 1/2. i am really focusing on my thighs, because i recently noticed that they are stretch marks on my inner thighs. so when i came across this website i knew it meant i should try to lose the weight! i’ve been trying to lose wait since november, but i don’t eat healthy or get on the treadmill unless someone tells me too, or they already cooked the meal for me.. thats a big issue..i’m starting to change my eating ways& exercising more on monday, hopefully and may i’ll be back with a success story!

I found if every time you crave sweets, you take teaspoon of honey. When you want fats, take a teaspoon of olive oil. For carbs, a teaspoon of mashed potatoes. Do this for 2 weeks. Don’t cheat. Then in week three drink diet soda and eat chunks of salami 4 times a day. Do this for another two weeks. I did this lost 15lbs! That wasn’t enough but it got me going so week 5 I starved myself and slept a lot. Week six, nothing but orange juice and a cheese slice here or there. I am 30 so I do like beer. Didn’t have a lick of it the whole time, week seven still would eat a cheese slice once in awhile but the oj was burning a whole in my stomach so I switched to coors light. Lot easier on the stomach and knocked me out cold after a dozen or so. After the seventh week I went to my doctors and weighed in, lost 35lbs. He said I don’t know what you’ve been doing but just keep doing it!

I really want to lose 30 pounds and even more. I just have so much to do though. I take taekwondo every tuesday and thursday for about an hour. And I’m planning on running 2 miles every alternate day. I really want to be hot for my prom which is coming this April and its my last year. I want to eat less but I dont know how to when i have low blood pressure and want to keep eating to not be so tired. Im constantly stressed because im taking 5 college classes, does this have any affect on my diet? I have weird sleeping habits because i wake up at 6 am in the morning and then i take a “nap” after school for 3 hours, and then sleep late around 12-1 am. i really want to cut the nap hours but i cant seem to keep myself awake. can you help me?
February 21, 2011 at 1:12 pm
It seems to me that you are quite under a lot of pressure and stressed out. Stress is a weight loss killer. It stops weight loss dead in its track. You have a pretty active lifestyle so losing weight should be quite easy.
The first thing you should do is to take care of your stress. Try meditating and clearing your mind. Take it a little more easy and get rid of stress.
Then start eating only healthy foods. Healthy food is whatever food you cook yourself. Any foods that comes in a plastic wrapper and claims to be healthy usually isn’t.
March 6, 2011 at 3:11 pm
Omg that’s almost exactly my senario too. Only I’m 17. gooodluck!!!!
March 17, 2011 at 10:17 pm
Losing 30 pounds in 3 months is definitely possible, especially if you’re in bad shape. I was losing 15 pounds a month when I was in horrible shape, but eventually it lowered to about 6-8 pounds a month. Just got to work hard!
March 18, 2011 at 12:29 am
what foods shold I stay away from. I am going on a trip end of june and I want to lose about 30 lbs. I plane on eating healthy and biking around a mile every day. Will that work?
March 24, 2011 at 2:51 am
I am 18 years old, 5’6″ and weigh 175lbs. I would love to be able to lose about 30lbs so I could be down to 145/150. Not only do I want to lose the weight, I want to tone up my whole body. My thighs and stomach are my “problem” areas, although they are not excessively big, they are the spots that I am not really happy with. I am a first year university student and have gained that “freshmen 15″. Most of my pants are too tight now. Does anyone have any exercises or meal plans that worked for them with this? I do not want to died in the sense of starving myself, I know that is not healthy, but so tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
March 29, 2011 at 1:16 pm
I don’t know. Haven’t eaten any of them. What you should do is read the label and see for yourself if they are.

I am 19 yrs old 5’4 weigh 168. last year in jan i was 130lbs. i want to go back to that weight. only my metabolism is slow. and i work out 3 times a week for 2 hrs. eat healthy but nothing seems to work.
help!!!!!!! =(
April 19, 2011 at 12:48 pm
Aaraceli you should talk to your doctor for a personalized diet. Considering your medical condition using a general purpose diet, meant for healthy individuals, is not advisable. I my opinion you have to use a slow but sure healthy weight loss diet. A diet that also helps keep your blood pressure in check and normalize all your body’s functions.
April 19, 2011 at 12:52 pm
Sidra my advice to you is to cut down on the sweets you eat and to stop starving yourself. Just eat more vegetables and lean meat. The above advice is a shot in the dark considering the small amount of information I had at my disposition. If you want a more detailed response send me a more detailed message.

To lose weight you need to firstly get your diet in order. Start eating healthier foods (raw or steamed vegetables and fruits) while you slowly cut down on junk food.
People who are addicted to junk food need to get off it slowly – just like a smoker, you cannot go ‘cold turkey’ or else they will end up failing at losing weight, which is not what you want when someone is trying to lose weight.
After your diet is in order then you can worry about exercising and portioning the amount of food that you eat.
Take Care.

I’m 14 years old, I’m 5’4, and I weigh 150-155. (I go back and forth between there.) Anyway, I would like to be 120 pounds for high school. My family isn’t really willing to buy healthy food… And when I attempt to exercise they question me like crazy. I eat out quite a lot because my mom never has time to make a proper meal. What should I do diet wise? As for the exercise- I have a little heart problem. Nothing too serious, but it is difficult for me to run. Since I am young, you think I would lose fast, but that’s not the case. Sorry if this is too vague, but could you throw some advice my way? Thanks.

Great website!
I’m going to start tomorrow (I say this for each diet I start but I will). I’m about 5’7 and 150lbs but also in a wheelchair (so I think it’ll take longer than 3 months but wish me luck =). Thank you for thw website!

My family has a history of heart issues. But everytime I look at a person, I think wow I wish I was that healthy. Teachers, even gym teachers say to us, if athletes have certain problems and they can over come it, then you can.(: i was always big, but highschool i changed for the better. I started eating healthier, i mean of course i do eat some fast food but thats only if i crave it. even with that, i do count my calories. i do drink plenty of water. propel because its flavored and your body will crave some kind of flavor. my family loves fattening foods&going out to eat. best thing to do is order healthy foods. If its all fat then find the one with the least fat. Now im a vegitarian. I wont eat meat. A lot of times whatever the meat it is, steroids are injected in the animal to make it fatter, to sell more meat or milk. Try finding healthy meat like chicken, turkey, fish. Fish is the best thing to have.in ones diet. exercise is the best to complete your healthy life style. I walk my dogs for a half hour, exercise at night by doing a exercise video. Usually 30mins as well. I love to dance so that’s what I try to find, but jillian Michael is amazing as well. I’m such a health freak, I try to get my body healthier, and I want to feel better about myself. It’d amazing having that feeling of happiness or anything else, but knowing your happy with your body and know your body will be healthy in the long run. This is what I do and it works for me, find something that works for you. Just stick with the plan and never give up, if you feel like it, look for some inspiration. A magazine, or keep some strong words that will stick with you along the way. Plus listen to some upbeat music throughout the workout, keeps up pumpin’. :p always look for things to do, dont be a couch potato, I was and ended up being over weight. You’ll do fine. Good luck ps if you try birth control be careful, it will make you gain weight. Mine did. Just saying. Birth control does help regulate your body and keep it o. the rogjt track but it will make you gain weight fast. At least some will. Mine did and now im back on the verge of losing weight again..

Hi i just read this and im going to try it and hope it works.. but i havent had any luck in the past. 3 years ago when i was in 7th grade i went down 5 pants sizes in one year and was skinny but still kinda flabby as a skinny person. since then ive gained at least 45 pounds but ive also grown 4-5 inches. im an athlete so i do alot of physical activity but i just cant seem to get weight off. i did track freshmen year where we worked out 3 hours a day 5 days a week. and i actually put on more weight, probably because i ate so many calories a day. now ive come to the last straw if i get any bigger i dont know what i do. since summer started ive gone to the gym everyday and have been eating healthy but still see no results. this is causing me to want to give up.. i just wanna feel better and healthy again i dont look like i weigh 168 pounds at 5’9 age 15 because i have really muscular legs. but i do and its really disappointing.
ANY ADVICE

I’m 37 and have about 25 pounds to lose (12 kilos). I gained weight after I went down psychologically after major problems in my life plus a surgery in my belly.
What I usually do to help me stick to my healthy eating programme is:
Open your closet and take the most favourite piece of clothing you used to wear when you were fit. Hang it out of the closet and LEAVE IT HANGING THERE until you are actually able to wear it!!!
Every time you are bored to excercise or feel like eating everything, just look at it! It helps!

Well certainly its possible to lose 30 pounds in 3 months and with the help of some common things its not that hard. I will like to add something to the post so it might help as well. Each and every person who is willing to lose weight should no skip the breakfast try to have the natural oats in fruit juice. I am recommending it because it will keep you fill till a longer time and you will not each much. Its a rich source of carbohydrate. Also have ample of water and as Andrew stated burn more then what you consume.

Grapefruit juice first thing with breakfast and some caffeine. CLA is a safe proven way to burn that fat, you can find it in the vitamin section.

Frequent fluid intake may help you lose your weight faster and eat a lot of vegetables and fruits.. Stay away of eating or eat less carbohydrates and of course, exercise daily.. I actually, follow these methods and after a month, I lose 10 lbs..

As we gets older our metabolism gets slow.. specially for women. But focusing on the right diet and exercise will result in a healthy fit body.

It’s really dangerous to lose that much weight in a short amount of time. Not to mention you will look miserable because the only way you’ll do it without a serious workout routine is to starve yourself.
