Sex and Food: what to eat for a better sex life

Nutrition plays a vital role in terms of a healthy sexual life. The basic nutritional ingredients necessary for a healthy sexual life include a huge variety of fruits and vegetables, protein and complex carbohydrates.

There are certain categories of foods that adversely affect sexual functions: fried foods and fatty sauces, sugar and excess salt, saturated fat and processed foods are considered to be in direct connection with the absence of interest in sex. It is also a good idea to limit alcohol, coffee and nicotine, elements that prevent proper assimilation of nutrients necessary for a healthy life.

The good news is that some indulgences are beneficial. Delicious chocolate contains phenylalanine, an amino acid that increases the endorphins, this is our natural antidepressant. It is extremely important to eat fruits that are full of fiber and antioxidants and are considered to have aphrodisiac properties: apples, apricots, peaches, grapes, bananas, kiwi, plums, raspberries and strawberries.

Vegetables are also very important because of the vitamins and minerals intake they give us: carrot, corn, eggplant, celery, cucumber. Seafood gives us a very big and clean intake of proteins (clams, shrimp, lobster) and of course light proteins like chicken, nuts, seeds and beans.

Nutritional supplements, multi-vitamins and minerals are recommended periodically. Vitamins like A, B, C and E are responsible for normal sexual function.

Selenium, manganese and zinc are vital in regulating hormones. Therefore, to have a healthy sex life, we need a measure nutrition, consisting of foods that are raw, that leave alkaline residues, that are fulfilling and compatible with the body.
