Diet Foods, Diets & Nutrition

You are on a diet but you are hungry. What do you do? We resist the impulse to eat is the most common answer. The practice of abstinence is very hard. And it’s not healthy to use abstinence when you feel the need to eat. The last thing you should let yourself do is go hungry. First you metabolism slows down making your body burn less calories every day. That’s very bad for your waistline. Then you will lose energy, making it almost impossible to workout efficiently. And the worst thing that can happen are stomach burns, meaning your stomach is getting destroyed. Of course you can’t go and eat junk food just because you feel hungry. You need a smartly chosen snack to help you get past the hunger until the next meal. You should eat something rich in vitamins and minerals, low in calories and ideally full of fibers. Here are some ideas:

One banana: Usually bananas aren’t recommended in a diet. But they are rich in sodium, potassium, and carbohydrates which are an excellent source of energy. All these factors make a banana a perfect snack on a busy day. Just stick to one not more.

Yogurt: I personally recommend the plain yogurt that is drinkable. That way it’s much easier to consume at work. Or you can try the light yogurt with fruits. But be careful and read the label to make sure your fruit yogurt doesn’t contain any sugar.

One fist full of almonds: Almonds are rich in magnesium, potassium and vitamin E, a very powerful antioxidant. It is true they are also rich in fats, but they are good fats for your health. Also almonds contain a considerable quantity of proteins. In conclusion, taking into consideration how healthy they are they are worth the high caloric count, about 600 calories per 100 grams

One slice of pressed cheese: it’s rich in proteins quenching your hunger on the spot for the moment. If you want something really tasty try Mozzarella.

Dried fruits: are a concentrated source of nutrients and you have plenty of different fruits to choose from. They are good for munching on even at work. But be careful because they have more calories than their fresh version.

Carrots and celery: if you are on a strict diet than these are the perfect choice. Just pack for work some cleaned carrots and celery cut into long sticks. You can use this snack to cut down the number of calories you eat while watching the tv. Just replace the tv junk food with carrots and celery. It’ s something to crunch on.

Fresh fruits: All you have to do is wash them and eat them. Simple. Try to avoid fruits that are too sweet because they create a sugar rush in your body making you crave food when it ends.

Olives: are full of healthy fatty acids. Unfortunately olives are rich in calories also. But they are perfect if you want to eat something a little salty.

One bowl of milk and cereals skim milk and whole wheat cereals make for a perfect hunger killer and tasty treat. Try to avoid sugary cereals.

One cereal bar: usually placed alongside the sweets, the cereal bar is a great energy source. Sure it has sugar in it but it also has lots of fibers and a low number of calories making it a tasty healthy treat. If you don’t have time or the place to get any of the other the cereal bar is your ace in the pocket.
